For this MNQ trade, I was looking for a long opportunity after price reacted from an important area of liquidity.
The setup started with the market taking sell-side liquidity (SSL) below the previous low. Instead of immediately buying the reversal, I waited for confirmation that the market was actually starting to shift.
On the lower timeframe, we got SMT confirmation, showing a divergence around the lows. This gave me more confidence that the downside move was losing momentum.
After that reaction, price formed a bullish setup around the 15-minute Order Block.
That gave me the area where I could define my risk and look for a long entry.
The structure was straightforward:
Sell-side liquidity → SMT confirmation → 15M Order Block → Long entry → Buy-side liquidity target
The stop was positioned below the Order Block and invalidation area. If price broke back through that zone, the bullish setup would no longer be valid.
The target was placed toward the buy-side liquidity (BSL) above.
Price eventually pushed higher and reached the area of buy-side liquidity.
The important part of this trade wasn't simply that MNQ went up.
The setup had a reason behind it.
I didn't want to buy just because price had already dropped. I wanted to see liquidity taken, confirmation from SMT, and then a reaction from an area where I could clearly define my risk.
That's the difference between randomly entering a trade and actually building a trade plan.
Don't enter just because liquidity was swept.
A liquidity sweep can be the beginning of a setup, but I still want confirmation before taking the trade.
My process is:
Context → Liquidity → Confirmation → Entry → Risk → Target
When you have a process like this, you don't need to predict every candle. You simply wait for the conditions you have already defined.
